Challenge

The Cooke Center for Learning and Development is a non-profit organization that helps provide quality education to kids with special needs. They held a star-chef-studded fundraising gala to honor contributors Karen and David Waltuck of Chanterelle restaurant. We jumped at the chance to create the identity for an event that benefits such a worthy cause.

Action

Our approach was inspired by the creative energy of the classroom, with hand-drawn lettering rendered in chalk, pencil and crayon on the invitation poster, event program and menu. The warmth of the handmade type captured the sense of community fostered by the organizers, while the elegant treatment conveyed a spirit of celebration.

Results

We were gratified to contribute to the success of this exciting event, and thrilled to hear that they surpassed their fundraising goals. We wish all the best to the Cooke Center and the Waltucks!
